The loch has 30 or more other islands, some so small that they disappear when the water levels are high, and others large enough to be (sparsely) inhabited. One of the loch's islands, Inchmurrin is the largest island in the British Isles, while Inchconnachan island is home to a colony of wallaby (marsupial), its young is known as “joey” just like many other marsupials.

The very name Loch Lomond depicts nothing but nature in perfection. The main tourist focus is on the western shore, around Balloch. This is the place to head for boat trips and home of the Maid of the Loch, an authentic paddle steamer and utterly unique venue for events and functions. Further, development is attracting large numbers of visitor like the this magnificent addition to the area, the Mull Railway, which will link Balloch and Loch Lomond Shores. The most picturesque of the loch's villages is Luss on the west bank. Its streets are laid out in a linear pattern and were originally part of the planned estate village built by the Colquhouns. Recently restored, they present a pretty sight.

The loch is one of the country's premier boating and water sports venues. It is open to every kind of watercraft including kayaks, canoes, wind-surfers, jet skis, speedboats and cruisers. Situated in the heart of the Great Rift Valley 160 kilometers northwest of Nairobi, Lake Nakuru is a bird watcher's paradise. Lake Atitlán is volcanic in origin. It is the result of a land collapse filling an enormous cavity formed in an eruption 84,000 years ago known as Los Chocoyos. The continuing volcanic activity in the region built three massive volcanoes in the caldera flanking the lake.

The tallest of the three is Volcán Atitlán which lies on the southern rim of the crater, dominating the stunning lake with which it shares its name. Atitlán is a Mayan word that means “the place where the rainbow gets its colors”. While Volcán San Pedro and Volcán Tolimán lie within the crater, San Pedro is the oldest of the three and probably the most photographed of all Guatemala's volcáns because of its beautiful cone. Volcán Tolimán is the youngest among them, which began growing after San Pedro stopped erupting. Atitlán's summit takes about eight “long” hours to ascend, but definitely all rewarding to be able to reach the top, overlooking one of the world's finest attraction and Guatemala's Pacific Coast.

Crater Lake – Oregon, USA

This is Crater Lake, South Central Oregon, USA. An abounding beauty of nature on the crest of the Cascade Mountain Range, 160 kilometers east of the Pacific Coast. Best known for its intense and indescribable deep blue color, water clarity, depth and grand design. Crater Lake earned the title of the number one most beautiful lake in the world; with exceptional features being the deepest lake in the United States, the seventh deepest lake in the world and the largest known eruption from Cascade Range volcanoes.

Before Crater Lake became what it is today, a cluster of ancient volcanoes called Mount Mazama dominated the landscape. The caldera was formed around 7,700 years ago after a large volcanic explosion destroyed Mt. Mazama. The 2,500 to 3,500 feet mountain peak fell into the volcano's partially emptied neck and magma chamber, that led to the formation of a new crater, known as Crater Lake. But before it got its new name, Crater Lake was formerly known as Blue Lake or Lake Majesty.

The name “Crater Lake” was coined by James Sutton, editor of the Oregon Sentinel in Jacksonville, in 1869 for its beautiful and symmetrical crater. But the world greatly owes its gratefulness to William Gladstone Steel, for devoting more than 30 years of his life promoting and establishing the park known as Crater Lake National Park, featuring the blue gem of the Oregon, Crater Lake. In 1902, President Roosevelt signed legislation making Crater Lake and its surrounding 180,000 acres as America's 6th National Park -- the only National Park in Oregon.

Lying in the waters at the west end of Crater Lake is a small volcanic island known as Wizard Island which is a cone of the new volcano which projects 755 feet above the average surface of the lake. The Wizard Island is the cinder cone that formed in Crater Lake. However, there is a second island. It's called the Merriam Cone. The Merriam Cone is another cinder cone located on the northeast part of the lake. Its surface features and lack of a crater (compared to the Wizard Island) suggest that it formed under water.

The last recorded eruption of Crater Lake was about 2290 BC +/- 300 years, it is considered dormant. And although it has been dormant for 5,000 years, geologists do expect it to reawaken someday.

Volcanoes in general can be exciting and fascinating, but also very dangerous. With all its superlative qualities, the sight of Crater lake will take your breath away... but also beware a “calm beauty” with a violent volcanic past.

Lake Matheson - New Zealand

Sitting in the middle of a farmland of cows and sheep, six kilometers west of Fox Glacier township, in the West Coast region of the South Island, lies New Zealand's most famous photograph stop, Lake Matheson. A small lake that earned its fame not for its dark brown waters. Not for its west coast rain forest. Not even for the abundance of water birds and other wildlife. This ancient lake was formed about 14,000 years ago, when the Fox Glacier retreated towards the sea and carved a slight depression in the landscape that eventually became filled with water. The waters of Lake Matheson are dark brown. The discoloring effect of the water is caused by the natural leaching of organic matter from the native forest floor surrounding the lake. So on a calm day, the dark hue of the water creates the ideal reflective surface, while the participation of the surrounding forest gives the lake shelter, context and protection from the wind providing a smooth surface to produce a perfect natural mirror. Set against the backdrop of the perfectly positioned Mount Cook (or Aoraki in Maori) and Mount Tasman to reflect in the glassy lake, Lake Matheson ultimately earned itself another name, the “Mirror Lake”, which appropriately describes what it is stands for.

Visitors from around the world have come to the lake to enjoy the reflected view of the Southern Alps. Year after year, it never failed to attract more people (travelers/passers-by), especially photographers, to stop, film, photograph to get dozens of amazing vistas of this jewel in New Zealand's scenic crown.

Here in this post I am glad to inform you that soon I will be posting about my pilgrimage journey to Baba Balak Nath Ji temple located in Himachal Pradesh. Reason why I am excited about posting about that journey is that we took the uncommoe ruote for the journey from Chandigarh. The normal route is via road, but we went via Bharka Dam, crossing the Ranjit Sagar Lake and then traking to the temple and Shah Talai.

During my second time in Manila, I got the chance to go to Calamba, Laguna and experienced the beauty of one of their lovely hot spring resorts. Together with my sister and best friend, we went to 88 Hotspring Resort. The resort is 2-hours away from Makati. First time guests, like us, won’t have a hard time locating the resort since it just a long the highway.

The moment we got off the bus, we were surprised because there were only few Filipino guests; most of the visitors were Koreans, that’s probably because the resort is owned by a Korean national. Since it was already past 12 in the afternoon and the three of us were hungry, so we headed straight to their restaurant. The downside was that there were only limited Filipino dishes being served. After filling up our hungry stomach, we went for a sight seeing.

We were amazed at how beautiful the place was. The resort had several pools (cold and hot). Cottages were beautifully built and there’s also a lake for boating. The thing I like about their pool is that the water comes directly from the foot of Mount Makiling, so it is natural and un-chlorinated.

88 Hotspring Resort is a perfect place for relaxation and rejuvenation because of its serene ambiance. Though it is along the highway you will barely hear the noise of the buses and jeepneys passing by. Their bathroom was huge and not to mention very clean. For day tour guests, there’s a safety locker where you can put all your things.

So if you are planning to go to Calamba do not forget to check out 88 Hotspring Resort. Be sure to have enough money in your pocket though because it is not too budget-friendly (well, atleast for me). Each serving of their dish will cost you around 300 pesos and the entrance fee is 700 pesos (regular rate) and 500 pesos (discounted rate). Cottages are also available for an overnight stay and price is around 2500 pesos and up. Bus fare from Makati is around 90 pesos.

I don't really mind spending as long as I can have the much needed rest and relaxation!

Rio de Janiero (River of January in English) is the second largest city of Brazil. Among the cities in Brazil, Rio gets the most number of tourist visits every year because of its abundance in wonderful tourist attractions and one of those tourist attractions is the "Christ The Redeemer". The statue is considered to be the largest Art Deco statue in the world. Below are the 10 facts you should know about the magnificent statue.

Build between 1922 and 1931, the Christ the Redeemer has become the symbol of Christianity in Rio and Brazil. The budget for construction clocked at $250,000.

Christ the Redeemer also symbolizes freedom, blessing and protection.

The idea was suggested by Princess Isabel but the idea was dismissed in 1889. Years passed by and the Catholic Circle of Rio organized another proposal in 1921. Among the designs, the statue with open arms on a pedestal was chosen.

The outer layers of the monument were built from high-quality soapstone.

It is located at the Peak of Corcovado Mountain in Tijuca Forest National Park and is referred to as the World’s Largest Art Deco-- standing at 130 feet and weighs 635 tons.

Heitor da Silva Costa was the local engineer of the monument and it was originally sculptured by Paul Landowski.

Christ the Redeemer was inaugurated in October 12, 1931 and welcomed numerous tourists around the world.

Christ the Redeemer has officially joined the list of New Seven Wold’s Wonders in July 7, 2007 along with Giza Pyramid Complex in Cairo, Chichen Itza in Yucatan, Mexico, Colosseum in Rome Italy, Great Wall of China, Machu Picchu in Cuzco, Peru, Petra in Jordan and Taj Mahal in Agra, India.

Another thing you should know about the place is that it is not accessible if you don’t own a car because it is almost a 2 kilometers travel from the highway.

So what’s up with this place that I even bother to write a something about it? Well, a first class subdivision can’t be considered first class if it does not have a first class club house, right? Villa de Mercedes takes pride of its very magnificent club house. I have been to several club houses but none can compare to the astonishing club house of the subdivision. I have to say that the pool is best viewed during night time because of the light that illuminates under the water. What makes the club house the best is that you get see an over looking view of Davao City.

The pool is child friendly because there’s a part of the pool that is intended for kids. The pool is only 4 feet deep so it is also friendly to those does not know how to swim. You have to be in your proper swimming outfit before you can enjoy the pool. Other top notch features of the club house are its huge bathroom and lockers. Your valuable things are one hundred percent safe because you are provided a locker and you can have your own number combination to lock the cabinet.

The entrance is quite pricey at 150Php but it’s all worth it. I will definitely go back there and spend more time in the water.

Well I have spent few years in Delhi, I am nor sure about Delhi abut Delhi NCR is surely not the best and the safest place to live in.

According to the latest "livability index", the host city to the Commonwealth Games has received top ratings not only in education and economic environment but also safety and security.

The 'Livability Index 2010' is a report based on a study conducted by the Confederation of Indian Industry and the Institute for Competitiveness, India. It was released on Monday by Urban Development Secretary M Ramachandran.

The report is a result of a comprehensive survey in 37 cities, ranked on criteria of demographics, education, health and medical standards, safety, housing, socio-cultural political environment, economic environment, and natural built environment and planned environment.

While Delhi has been described as the "aspirational benchmark" for other cities in the country, Mumbai comes a close second followed by Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune in the overall ratings. However, barring Noida, other NCR cities have failed to fare well, with Gurgaon, Noida and Faridabad coming in 9th, 27th, and 32nd, respectively.
